LAW OF COSINES

The Law of Sines used in 6.1 are used and nessacary to finding the parts of the triangle inorder to plug into the equations given in 6.2

Law of cosines consists of three standard forms and three alternative forms of these same equations.

Standard Form are used to solve for side lengths:

These alternative forms are used to solve for the cosines of these equations for solving for angles.

Alternative Forms

These are used to solve oblique triangles with certain given information, SSS and SAS.

To solve for the area of an oblique triangle. you need the all three sides:

first you need to solve for s and s=(a+b+c)/2

Area= sq. root of (s(s-a)(s-b)(s-c))
