Chapter 6 Summary

Section 6.1
Law Of Sines:

** in order to use the law of sines there must be an obligue triangle in which we know at least one side and two other parts. This breaks down into the following four cases:


  • Two angles and any side (AAS or ASA)

  • Two sides and an angle opposite one of them (SSA)

  • Three sides (SSS)

  • Two sides and their included angle (SAS)


EXAMPLE (AAS)


Area of an Oblique Triangle:

**all the same formula just different arrangements based on the given.


Section 6.2


Law of Cosines:

**all the same formula just different arrangements based on the given.
